No-Hassle Bidding And Siding Expertise In Portland

She Selected Us For Our No-Hassle Bid, But
There’s Much More To This Success Story!

How We Helped Madeline M. Navigate A Difficult
Siding Replacement Project In Portland, OR

You never know exactly what you’re going to find when you undertake siding replacement in Portland, OR. Sometimes, the process is quite straightforward. However, it can also take plenty of twists and turns along the way.

Take Madeline M.’s project, for example. Madeline originally chose us because we didn’t make her feel pressured while bidding on the job. It was only later that she discovered there was a major issue standing in the way of a successful project outcome.

That was when the benefits of hiring Superior Exterior Systems truly came to the forefront. Not only did we solve the issue in a timely manner and install Madeline’s new siding. We did so while minimizing the added expense to her established project budget!

Bidding On Madeline’s Siding Replacement Project

Madeline wanted new siding for her 1920s-era local home. Her motivation? Getting rid of more than 14,000 lbs of poorly done stucco on the building’s exterior.

A few local companies bid on the project, but she chose Superior Exterior Systems. Why? She credits our no-pressure approach with her decision.

When she talked with our team member, Matt, she didn’t feel like she was getting a sales pitch. Instead, he simply explained how we would proceed and answered her questions about the project.

It took Madeline a while to sort through all the bids she’d received. Throughout that time, we talked with her a few times via text and in person.

In the end, she chose us. Price was an important factor. But it was our informative, low-key approach that put us over the top!

“Superior had a competitive price, but it was the way they handled the bid process that sold us. Matt was knowledgeable and very unsalesman-like. He didn’t pressure me or make a hard sale and was patient while we decided how to move forward with this very major project.”

An Unfortunate Discovery During Stucco Removal

Stucco isn’t the most common siding material in Portland or the greater Pacific Northwest. That’s true because it has a very strong tendency to absorb moisture. Given the local climate, this can lead to major issues.

One of the most likely issues is rot. This occurs when sodden stucco transfers its moisture to the walls underneath it for extended periods of time.

Many older stucco-clad homes in our area manage to avoid this problem. Ironically, that’s partly due to their lack of insulation and adequate weather sealing.

But when we peeled the stucco off Madeline’s home, we found something much closer to a worst-case scenario. Rot, and plenty of it.

It was going to cost money to remove and replace the rotten material. Unfortunately, Madeline hadn’t accounted for this kind of expense in her siding replacement budget.

That’s when Matt and his team sat down and brainstormed on her behalf. After reviewing their potential options, they devised an effective, reasonably priced way to get the job done.

This change in plan did increase the overall cost of the project. It also extended the project’s timeline.

However, we were able to keep Madeline’s costs low enough for her to cope successfully with the added expense. We were also able to get the project moving forward again ASAP.

“Our house turned out to be a rotten mess with no insulation beneath the original siding, and Matt and his crew really problem-solved to help us get it fixed without going too far out of our budget. They made it manageable.”

Attention To Detail Leads To Siding Excellence

With the rot fully addressed, we proceeded with Madeline’s project and installed new board siding in her chosen style and color. But even with the last board in place, we still had work to do.

On every siding project we undertake, installation is followed by a step-by-step walkthrough. This walkthrough allows us to spot mistakes and imperfections that could lead to less-than-optimal final results.

Often, these imperfections are invisible to our customers. However, when it comes to maintaining our elite quality standards, they matter.

Madeline was happy to see us pay such close attention to detail. What’s more, she was overjoyed with her home’s renewed visual appeal and significantly improved energy efficiency!

“It turned out to be a much bigger project than we expected, but our house is in much better shape now, and we’ve already noticed a difference in our electricity bill. Matt always caught things on walkthroughs that we didn’t and made sure his crews came back to fix them, ensuring every detail was done right. They got our house looking so great. I’m blown away by the finished product! I love coming home to our “new” house and sitting outside on our hugely improved front porch. It was a really great process from start to finish.”
